A RARE J.H. STRONG 'LAKE BREEZE' HEAT POWERED FLOOR FAN

82: A RARE J.H. STRONG 'LAKE BREEZE' HEAT POWERED FLOOR FAN

The strap iron base with ornate brass burner embossed B&H for Bradley and Hubbard supports the iron conductive column and motor with iron cage having a central badge lettered THE LAKE BREEZE MOTOR MFG BY J. H. STRONG.

The Lake Breeze Motor Company was a maker of Stirling type heat-driven motors and, in this case, cooling fans, before electricity became widely available. Given that this technology required heat from the burning of alcohol or kerosene to create a breeze, electric fans turning the blades without producing heat soon prevailed. As a result, fans like this very scarce.
Measures 43.25 tall and the cage is 22.75 inches in diameter.
Very good working condition, no damage, repair or heavy wear.
