115: A FINE ANTIQUE SOUTHWEST PERSIAN QASHQUAI RUG C. 1890

The blue field with sparkling allover design displays a mass of flower heads and flora forms between rows of serrated leaves, all framed by an ivory border filled with continuous linked octagonal star-filled medallions with latch hooks, horizontal dice ends.
Measures 94 x 63 inches.
Good sides with original wrap, end bands with encroachment as shown professionally reinforced. One half with 12 small holes visible when backlit. These small areas a difficult to find from the pile side. No other damage, repair, mothing, stain or odor.
Provenance: Phil Martin Estate. Phil's interest in Persian and Caucasian weavings began in the 1980's when he met Michael Grogan, who was still with Sotheby's at the time.
