116: A SPACIOUS JEWEL TONE SAROUK CARPET CIRCA 1910

The lustrous blue field with a central device of blossom and pendants issuing flowering vines supported by mirrored cypress trees issuing flowering vines at each corner, all enclosed within a rust red border enclosing continuous meandering palmettes alternating with plants linked by vines and elongated serrated leaves.
Measures 161 x 105 inches.
Nice intact original sides and ends, good lustrous wool with areas of wear throughout the field. No damage, noting areas of reweave as shown.
Provenance: Phil Martin Estate. Phil's interest in Persian and Caucasian weavings began in the 1980's when he met Michael Grogan, who was still with Sotheby's at the time.
