Malkhaz Dekanoidze is a Wichita based Georgian artist best known for his scenes of fantasy and surrealism. He trained at the State Art Academy of Tbilisi, where he earned a degree in Decorative Arts in 1978. From 1980 to 1987, he worked as an art director at Kartuli Pilmi, the national film studio, contributing set and production designs to numerous Georgian films.
In addition to his cinematic work, Malkhaz has pursued an international painting career, exhibiting in cities across Europe, the Middle East, and the United States. His paintings are held in private collections worldwide, and he has completed large-scale public commissions in Georgia, including murals for the Sameba Cathedral in Tbilisi.
His practice spans painting, stained glass, ceramics, metal engraving, and inlay work. A lifelong gardener, botanical motifs frequently appear in his compositions.
