6: ANDY WARHOL (1928-1987) SIGNED PURPLE MAO SCREENPRINT
Andy Warhol (1928-1987)
Mao (Purple) (1974)
The color lithograph on wallpaper is hand-signed by Andy Warhol in felt-tip pen lower left.
Originally created as an installation element for Warhol's 1974 retrospective at the Musee Galliera in Paris, it was intended to cover the walls of the gallery in a repeating pattern per Warhol's practice of turning the gallery space into immersive, consumer-like environments. The sheets were initially printed in an unlimited edition from which approximately 100 individual sheets were hand signed in 1979 by Warhol in felt-tip pen on the lower left quadrant.
This sheet has been professionally released from its original mount and can be rolled for shipping. The original frame and mat are available if desired.
Sheet is 40 x 29.5, a frame and period mat 51H x 40W inches are available.
Very good condition, the full untrimmed sheet, not laid down, no damage, stain, punctures, tears or repair. Mild roll to the sheet.
