The lithograph from an edition of 500 prints published by Twayne Publishers, New York is signed by the artist in pencil below the image lower right, Fath number 75. The sheet displays a fragment of the Rives watermark, and the publisher's blindstamp near numbering 85 of 500.

Benton's comments on the image in Fath read: Study made while preparing the mural 'Achelous and Hercules' for the Harzfeld Store in K.C. This shows an attempt to get a young bull to stand on a show carpet for this photograph.
Image measures 12 x 16, sheet is 16 x 19.75, and frame is 18.25H x 21W inches.
Very good condition, the full untrimmed sheet, not laid down, no damage, punctures, tears or repair, toning in the margins and remains of brwon paper tape along the upper edge as shown in the online images.
Provenance: Descended through a Lawrence, Kansas estate to the current owner.
