The artist was a Scottish born American who served as a musician and a stretcher bearer with the 5th Wisconsin Volunteer Infantry in the Civil War.

In art, he was largely self taught and is credited with sculpture and painting.
Canvas measures 18 x 13.5 with a framed size of 20.25H x 15.75W inches.
Good condition. There are no issues of major scratches, losses, repairs, in-painting or touch-up. Craqueleure is present and noticeable.
Provenance: Large and varied collection, North Kansas City, Missouri.
