205: A LAKOTA BEADED TOBACCO BAG WITH QUILLWORK 1865-1875

Native tanned leather, glass beads, dyed and undyed porcupine quills.

This bag was likely reduced in height some time ago. The length, and the absence of beading around the top edge suggest this. Judging by the darker patina around that top opening, it appears any reduction would have been done long ago.
Measures 26.25 x 4.75 inches including fringe.
Good with bead loss at the bottom of the quill wrapped areas above the fringe. Three scattered small holes in the upper, soiling, good condition.
Provenance: The estate of a Wyoming collector.
