206: 1870s CHEYENNE BEADED HIDE TOBACCO BAG WITH DYED FRINGE

The 19th century Native tanned leather tobacco bag with unusual Native red ochre pigment on the lower half of the fringe is decorated in multiple colors of lane stitched glass beads.
Measures 36 x 6.75 inches, including the fringe.
Minor hide damage, tear to one side, fringe is slightly stiff, not quite brittle, 20% loss of quill wraps near the top edge, minor bead loss there, Tears near the top repaired with sinew, creases there as well, scattered short, tears repaired with sinew, scattered tears, and one edge tear 3 inches long.
Provenance: The estate of a Wyoming collector.
