208: A LATE 19TH CENTURY RIO GRANDE BANDED BLANKET

The Rio Grande two-panel blanket, New Mexico, mid-to-late 19th century, is woven in natural wool with red-dyed banding, the two loom widths joined by a central seam reflect a fusion of the Spanish Colonial weaving traditions seen in Pueblo and Navajo textiles.
Measures 101 x 52 inches.
Good condition, noting minor light red bleeding so faint that it appear as a pinkish cast in some areas of the ivory, scattered small hole 1/2 inch to 3/16 inch, approximately 25 in number, sturdy and good, odor free.
Provenance: The estate of a Wyoming collector.
