207: A LATE 20C. ZIA PUEBLO POTTERY JAR SIGNED RUBY PANANA
Ruby Panana is a celebrated Zia Pueblo potter of the Coyote Clan who now resides in Jemez Pueblo. She was taught by her mother, Sofia Pino Bell, and continues a family legacy of potters that includes her grandparents, Joe and Ascension Galvan Pino, and her siblings, Eleanor Greigo and Reyes Pino.
An active potter since around 1983, Panana follows traditional methods, using coil-built and hand-painted techniques with natural clays and pigments. Her award-winning designs have earned her wide recognition.
Measures 11 x 12 x 12 inches.
Very good condition. There are no chips, cracks, repairs, scratches or areas of heavy wear.
