The luminous and unusually large big-sky Midwest landscape during an electrical storm is signed lower right front. The work is titled and signed again verso on the stretcher by the artist.

David Melby was born in Wichita, Kansas in 1942. He earned a BFA from Wichita State University in 1967, followed by an MFA from the University of Nebraska in 1970. He pursued further studies at the Instituto Allende in San Miguel, Mexico. As a working artist, he is most associated with Leavenworth, Kansas where he taught art classes as a a volunteer at the Federal Penitentiary there.
Canvas measures 48 x 60 inches.
Very good original untouched condition. There are no issues of major scratches, losses, repairs, in-painting or touch-up.
