Charles Banks Wilson (1918-2013)
Mealtime at a Quapaw Powwow (1940)
The lithograph on BFK Rives watermark paper was published in a very small edition of only 19 prints and signed by the artist in pencil below the image lower right, titled lower left, Hunt catalog raisonné number 15. Unframed.

CBW's comments in the catalog raisonné read: ''When I drew this, the Quapaw had become wealthy from royalties paid on their lead and zinc deposits, and a their powwows they served everyone big meals at long tables. The food - dried corn, wild-grape dumplings, squaw bread, pecan butter, wild meat, and beef - probably brought as many Indians to their festivities as did the colorful dances.''

Very good condition, the full untrimmed sheet with deckle edges, not laid down, no damage, stain, punctures, tears or repair, very minor storage toning outer edges, never framed.
