Charles Banks Wilson (1918-2013)
Shawnee/Indian Cooks (1953)
The very rare lithograph published in a very low edition of only 24 prints is signed by the artist in pencil below the image lower right and titled lower left, Hunt catalog raisonné number 42. Unframed.
CBW's comments in the catalog raisonné read: ''I've shown a variety of kettles, some of which have been used for perhaps a hundred years. Most of them are copper. The women are preparing food for a memorial dinner. I'm often stuck by the idea that women do more than anyone in keeping the Indian heritage alive.''
Image measures 9 x 5.25, sheet is 11.5 x 10 inches.
Very good condition, the full untrimmed sheet with deckle edges, not laid down, no damage, stain, punctures, tears or repair. Printer's ink in the margins.
