The larger than usual oil depicting the flash of an electrical storm through storm clouds at night is signed lower right front and titled verso.

David Melby was born in Wichita, Kansas in 1942. He earned a BFA from Wichita State University in 1967, followed by an MFA from the University of Nebraska in 1970. He pursued further studies at the Instituto Allende in San Miguel, Mexico. As a working artist, he is most associated with Leavenworth, Kansas where he taught art classes as a a volunteer at the Federal Penitentiary there.
Sheet measures 10 x 24 with a framed size of 16.25 x 30.25 inches.
Very good original untouched condition. There are no issues of major scratches, losses, repairs, in-painting or touch-up.
