A LOUIS XVI STYLE ONYX AND GILT METAL GUERIDON

138: A LOUIS XVI STYLE ONYX AND GILT METAL GUERIDON

Circular pierced lozenge gallery with variegated cream and russet brown veined circular onyx slab, above a conforming frieze mounted with a scrolling acanthus cast guilloche band, gilt rosette die joins heading four tapering fluted columnar legs enclosing fleur d'asperges chandelles, ending in tapering splayed feet and joined by a shaped tripartite stretcher with plain knob finial. Late 19th century. This lot was originally offered without reserve in our July 8, 2016 auction. The buyer, a Manhattan auction house owner and television show furniture appraiser, never paid for his purchases. As a result, this property from the Joseph Candioto Trust is being offered again without reserve.
Very good condition noting minor scattered spotting on the finish, lower shelf. Minor wear and rubs, no damage or repair.
