A NEO-CLASSICAL BRONZE DORE DOUBLE WELL INK STAND

141: A NEO-CLASSICAL BRONZE DORE DOUBLE WELL INK STAND

An impressive late 19th / early 20th century bronze ink stand surmounted by an urn with eternal flame flanked by two classical figures with terrestrial globe and scroll over a winged hourglass within a lyre shape frame amid scrolls, the table with two inkwells covered by hinged lids and a rectangular compartment with hinged lid flanked by sphinx figures and raised on four square fluted legs. Measures 11.25 x 12.25 x 7 inches. This lot was originally offered without reserve in our July 8, 2016 auction. The buyer, a Manhattan auction house owner and television show furniture appraiser, never paid for his purchases. As a result, this property from the Joseph Candioto Trust is being offered again without reserve.
Very good original condition, the original gilt finish in good even tone overall without wear or inconsistencies, intact inkwell pieces, very good.
