A 19TH C. SEVRES PORCELAIN BOX WITH RARE PAINTED MARKS

396: A 19TH C. SEVRES PORCELAIN BOX WITH RARE PAINTED MARKS

The Sevres porcelain box with rare hand painted marks for Louis Phillipe 1846 in blue and HATEAU DES TUILERIES in red is otherwise typical with its gold enamels in high relief gold framing the hand painted reserves on cobalt blue. The marks that would typically be transfer decal applications on the base are in this case completely painted by hand.
Measures 3.5 x 6 x 4.5 inches.
Very good condition. There are no chips, cracks, repairs, scratches or areas of heavy wear. There are flakes from the unglazed foot surrounding the base.
Provenance: The collection of Josephine Bird Hall (1888 - 1948) by descent to her son, the present owner. Josephine's father was a founder of Kansas City's Emery, Bird, Thayer Department Store.
