A RARE EARLY 20C. LAKE BREEZE HEAT POWERED TABLE FAN

83: A RARE EARLY 20C. LAKE BREEZE HEAT POWERED TABLE FAN

The strap iron base has clips to hold the copper fluid reservoir in place below a conductive iron column supporting the Stirling type heat-drive motor mounted with brass blades and cage. The cage has a central badge lettered THE LAKE BREEZE MOTOR.

The Lake Breeze Motor Company was a maker of Stirling type heat-driven motors and, in this case, cooling fans, before electricity became widely available. Given that this technology required heat from the burning of alcohol or kerosene to create a breeze, electric fans turning the blades without producing heat soon prevailed. As a result, fans like this very scarce.
Measures 22.5 tall and the cage is 18 inches in diameter.
Very good working condition, no damage, repair or heavy wear.
