202: A LAKOTA PARFLECHE LIDDED BOX 1900-1910

The unusual example has a lid edged in muslin above the rectangular form with stitched corners and a top rim that was previously edged in muslin - now lost. The whole is constructed of cow rawhide and decorated in commercial pigment.
Measures 9 x 15 x 9 inches.
Very good condition, no major damage or repair, loss of trim around the top rim as noted.
Provenance: The estate of a Wyoming collector.
