166: OUTSTANDING FULLY BEADED LAKOTA MOCCASINS CIRCA 1890
The fully beaded pair made from Native tanned leather have striking checkerboard beaded bottoms separated visually by the unusual feature of a red glass bead border stacked on a white glass bead border, each encircles the outer sole, separating it from the beaded uppers.
The vamp and uppers are decorated in colorful geometric designs with white, an unusually long pointed tongue tipped in metal cone tinklers and unusual brass bead thongs or trailers acting as dusters attached at the heel.
Each measures 4 x 4 x 10 inches.
Very good condition, no damage, losses or repair - noting one or possibly two small strands of beading loss near the heel of one, two or three bead strands lost at the heel of another, bottom of the moccasin in both cases.
Provenance: The estate of a Wyoming collector.
