The lithograph on BFK Rives watermarked paper was published in an edition of 175 prints and signed by the artist in pencil below the image lower right, titled lower left, Hunt catalog raisonné number 88. Unframed.
CBW's comments in the catalog raisonné read: ''I tried to picture another side of the story of Indian Removal; dispossessed Indians from the East being relocated in the West on land already occupied by tribes that had been living and hunting there for centuries. A young man who had just returned from Vietnam posed for the figure of the Comanche on the horse. The Plains Madonna figure can be seen at lower right.''
Image measures 12 x 16.5, sheet is 15 x 20 inches.
Very good condition, very clean, the full untrimmed sheet with deckle edges, not laid down, no damage, stain, punctures, tears or repair. Never framed.
Provenance: Living estate, Overland Park, Kansas.
