Signed and dated lower right. Titled verso on the stretcher along with Mr. Troth's comment: ''My first painting from Buffalo Mound. The total expanse of this beautiful place is wholly overwhelming. To become immersed in such a landscape is a solid foundation for reaching a relationship with nature uncomparable.''

Rodney was a studying architecture at the University of Kansas when he enrolled in a painting class with Robert Sudlow, as evidenced by the painting up for bid here. The rest, as they say, is history. He later developed his own style of Abstract Expressionism.

Buffalo Mound is a prominent landmark in the Waubunsee County Flint Hills that rises out of the prairie. It served as a landmark for prairie traveling settlers and today is visible from Highway 99.
Overall framed size measures 37.5 x 43 inches.
Very good original untouched condition. There are no issues of major scratches, losses, repairs, in-painting or touch-up.
